Photo Privacy App Reviews
The App is working fine, deletes alle unwanted meta data including gps (was most important for me). I had issues when using fotos made the the iPhone or iPad. Contacted the Developer and received a fixed version the NEXT day! This is perfect!!! Thanks again!
Fast solution to remove metadata
Works as advertised. Its fast and simple to use with one or many pictures.
Just purchased this evening and ran a dozen photos (JPEG) through the program, then compared the metadata with the originals. It works, removes all data and does not appreciably alter the file size (kb/mb) of the photos. Simple to use. No problems so far. I’m running it on a late 2012 Mac Mini, with OS-X 10.9.5 I’d give it five stars, but we’re a little early in the relationship for that. If I run into problems I’ll be back!
Does exactly what its supposed to do
After auditioning a bunch of junkware I found on Macupdate, I came across this great little utility. It worked perfectly. Nice job, Ernesto.
This app has minimal options making it quick and easy to use. One thing I dont like, though, is that a file name suffix is required. Id like Photo Privacy to be able to make copies with the original file name when exporting to a different folder.
help
how do i open my pictures out of this folder?
The application creates copies of the images. At this point the new images do not have any privacy info, but its timestamps have been modified. This may be a problem if you are dealing with photos that were taken months ago. The photos will look as if they were taken today to a photo application.
Great utility for sorting iPad folders too...
Works quick and easy to remove exif, but I liked it better for helping to sort photos that sync to iPad without having to use the iPhoto utility….
While this software is not documented, it is fairly straightforward and seems to do exactly what it is advertised to do. You can either drag and drop images to the application for processing, or you can add them via folder. I tried it both ways, dragging a few files at first and checking output, and then adding an entire (large) folder full of images. I used a tricked out MacBook Pro with 8 GB of ram and an SSD to process a folder containing 44,000+ images. It took an hour, but it did what it was supposed to do. It appends "-private" to the name of each image processed. There is an option to change that to something else in preferences, but you cant save it and it doesnt remember it. That was OK in my instance, because I then used "Name Mangler 3" to restore all of the original names in a separate folder. I would personally like to see the software enhanced to replace select Exif data, but this did what I needed done. Will use it again. Note: Adding this next day. One curious thing about this software is that it INCREASES the size of images by 50% or more. I didnt notice it initially, but caught it when Time Machine wanted to back up the new folder. Of course, Im talking about 45,000 files, not just a couple, so most users may not notice the difference.
I gotta say. It does what it says, unlike so many other little utilities that fit into niches like this. I’m surprised how often I use it. I might only have it open for 30 seconds at a time, but that’s exactly what I want. I have other programs to move things around and rename them. I just want a new copy of the photo with no IPTC info in it, and that’s what this gives me.
how?
how do i look at my pictures after adding them?
The concept is good - and the need for photo privacy is real… but this application is not stable. I’ve had success a few times with it properly removing information (like GPS location, and device used for the photo)… but since the update to OS X 10.9.2., the application crashes - even for one photo. It comes just closes. I’ve restarted my mac, ensured nothing was running and I get the same error. I wrote the company for help but haven’t heard anything back. It did work on OS X 10.8 before I did the update. I suggest there may be a need for a patch or edit to make the software support the latest version of OS X. It’s worth a shot for less than $5, but be aware that it may crash on you and be unstable. I’ll update my rating if the company gets back with me and provides a solution to the problem - otherwise, I’ll leave it at 1 star as unstable.
Works as advertised
Nice app. Does what it says it will do.
Don’t Buy
Everytime I use this app, it immediately crashes. I just thew away $3.99!!!!!
Dont Purchase - Crashes Constantly
Rip Off! Purchased, Installed, Added One Photo to have the EXIF data removed, Pressed Start, Applicaiton Crashed. It will not edit even one photo.
Unstable Piece of Junk
load more than 90 Images Guranteed crash almost every time! Customer service is non-exisestant!
The very first time I used this it worked as advertised. Then it started crashing upon initiating the removal of info. It does not matter whether I drag and drop or add file from the drop down box. It just crashes. I have sent 3 emails to the developer that have gone unanswered.
I just downloaded and instaleld to my Imac with 10.11.2 Pulling photos’ from my iphone 6s PLUS, I get an error, Could not decode image data. On any and every photo I try to use it with. Not looking too good for this software and ability to with with 10.11.2 or with Iphone 6s photo’s.
